Anthony (Tony) Buchanan was born on May 30, 1957 in Seattle, Washington to the union of Jo Ann and James Buchanan. He was a brother to two siblings, Jim and Jo Buchanan. Anthony was blessed with two sons, Anthony and Leland.

In his youth, Tony attended Kings Elementary where he maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout his six years there. He then attended Garfield High School when able throughout his illness. Even with his illness, he persistently pursued higher education goals, going on to receive an Associate Arts degree in Computer Programming.

Tony decided to take a position as a Metro bus driver, which he held for several years until his health would not permit him to continue. He had aspirations about being a marine biologist.

Tony had a deep and abiding love for family and friends, taking these relationships very seriously. He has been a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church since the age of seven. He had a passion for reading and studying the Bible and maintained a strong faith in Jesus Christ throughout his life. Although he suffered tremendous pain throughout most of his life, he had a winning personality and sense of humor, endearing himself to all those who knew him.

Tony loved the water and was an incredible swimmer. He was an avid game-player, excelling in games involving strategic thinking.

He was a strong member for Rainy Rose Society, acting as their editor and always eager to serve. He recently won the Golden Pruner Award for his long an outstanding history of service to the society, receiving a large pair of engraved shears with this accomplishment.

Anthony T. Buchanan departed from this life on November 4, 2013. He was preceded in death by his father, James Buchanan, who greeted him at the gate. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his mother, two sons and daughter-in-law, four grandchildren, two brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends [survivors names omitted] - all whose lives were richer for the privilege of having him in them.

Tony will be greatly missed. There is a huge hole on earth without him. We can't wait to see you again babe!

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1634 19th Ave, Seattle, WA 98122. A graveside service will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park: 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA 98133.--Evergreen Washelli Funeral Homes
