Known by friends and colleagues for her willingness to "go the extra mile," missionary Shelley Foster, died December 13, 2014, in Garland, Texas, from complications with a bone marrow transplant. She was 62.

Foster, who had served with the International Mission Board (IMB) since 2001, provided member care to IMB personnel serving throughout Asia. Both through her friendship and her member-care ministry, Foster encouraged missionaries serving in difficult places and helped equip them for successful living overseas. Based in Seoul, South Korea, she (with her husband Bill) had returned to the U.S. earlier this year, after being diagnosed with leukemia.

One who had served with Foster in Seoul, described her as "the kind of person you like to spend time with," a seasoned professional... (who) caused others to feel accepted and safe.

Other longtime friends said, "Shelley will be most remembered for her caring spirit and willingness to go beyond what was required. When she saw a need... She went the extra mile to help..."Foster's selflessness grew from her obedience to God and her love for other people... She wanted to live each day as if it were her last... to make a difference with the days God had given her."

Foster was survived by her husband Bill; two daughters, Elizabeth (Foster) Zoucha and Christine (Foster) Jarvis; seven grandchildren: Tyler William Zoucha, Nathaniel Robert Zoucha, Aretta Jo Zoucha, Alexis Leanza French, Brenna Joelynn French, Reina Marie Jarvis, and Trinitie Elyse Jarvis; her mother, Inez Eileen Hill; two brothers, Sandy Hill and Pete Hill; and one sister, Crystal (Hill) Weikart.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Decemeber 22, 2014, at the Linn Hert Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia, Ohio. A celebration of Foster's life will also be held on the beach at New Smyrna Beach, Florida, at a later date. In lieu of flowers it was Shelley’s wish that donations and contributions be made to the International Missions Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, P.O. Box 6767, Richmond, VA 23230.

==================================

Shelley Jo (Hill) Foster, aged 62, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida went to be with our Lord and Savior on December 13, 2014 at 2:41 in the afternoon at the home of her daughter surrounded by her loving family. She fought a courageous battle against Leukemia for the last nine months, but was ultimately called home due to complications with her Bone Marrow Transplant.

Shelley was born to Sanford C. Hill, Jr. and Inez Eileen Hill, in East Liverpool, Ohio, on January 11, 1952. She was the third of four children and grew up in Ohio - graduating from United High School and attending Kent State University, where she met and later married (on January 8, 1972) the love of her life William Kennedy "Bill" Foster.

Shelley and Bill moved to Florida shortly after marriage and remained there raising their two Daughters Elizabeth Inez and Christine Ann. Shelley earned her Master’s in Psychology and has always taken a great interest in the helping and caring for other people - especially during difficult times.

In January 2002 Shelley and Bill entered the mission field and remained overseas in the service of our Lord for the last twelve years serving His great commission without question. During this time, Shelley had the immense joy of becoming a “Mimi” six times and took her greatest pleasure from loving her grand babies.

Shelley was survived by her husband, William Kennedy Foster, aged 64; her daughters, Mrs. Brian K Zoucha and Mrs. Russell B Jarvis; her grandchildren, Tyler William Zoucha, Nathaniel Robert Zoucha, Aretta Jo Zoucha, Alexis Leanza French, Brenna Joelynn French, Reina Marie Jarvis, and Trinitie Elyse Jarvis; her mother, Inez Eileen Hill; her brothers, Sandy Hill and Pete Hill; and her sister, Crystal (Hill) Weikart.
