William's family is profiled under Chapter VI, "Genealogies" in the book: The Commemorative Biographical Encyclopedia of Dauphin County, Pa, 1896, by RUNK & COMPANY, page 58.

The small paragraph names William and his wife Anna, the year William died (March 1783), and (6) of their known children. It noted that Susanna, their daughter, married ________ Bretz.

William Bishop is listed in the INDEX to LANCASTER COUNTY 1770 TAX RECORDS (VOL 5), page 13 as compiled by Gary T. Hawbaker and Clyde L. Groff. He appears as living in Mount Joy and assessed for the year 1770 only.

From the church records of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elizabethtown, PA, Parochial Records 1770-1866 (FHC film #090444), it was uncovered that William Bischof was very active as a contributing founding member of this church. The first six pages of the record book notes that William Bischof deeded two acres of land to the entire congregation for purposes of building this new church. He also made arrangements for the building itself, such as securing the funds for the building of the pulpit, the altar, and pulpit seat.

William Bischof(f) was a Revolutionary War Patriot, serving as a private in the Lancaster County, PA Militia in Captain Abraham Scott's Company, of Col. Alexander Loury's 7th Battalion.
