A native of Spartanburg County, son of the late Payton Jerome and Bernice Lynch Hines, he was retired from Springs Industries, a member of Grace Baptist Church and the US Army National Guard.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Ensley Hines of the home; one son, Bruce Hines (Anne) of Greer; one sister, Mary Porter of Rocky Mount, NC; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Rev. Hines was predeceased by one son, Brian Keith Hines; two brothers, Payton Jerome Hines, Jr., and Joe Hines and three sisters, Mildred Golightly, Doris Rogers and Sarah Henderson.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at Wood Mortuary conducted by Rev. Larry Padgett and Rev. Harold Johnson. Burial will follow in Wood Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at Wood Mortuary.
