Stanton, Wanda Haggard Wonderful wife and mother and beloved grandmother and great- grandmother, age 94, of Minneapolis, passed away on December 14, 2014 surrounded by family. Born in Paris, KY, she became a nurse and answered the call to serve her country overseas during WWII as an Army nurse and worked at the 16th Station Hospital in London. She was invited to high tea with King George in 1943 where she met Elizabeth, future queen of England and her sister Margaret when they were teenagers. In London she met her husband Joe, from Chicago IL, who was serving in the medical corp. They were both stationed at the Chateau Le Marais in France, and married at the Madeleine in Paris, France in 1945. She came home and raised nine children, passing on to them her love of reading and her sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Joe, parents and four siblings, Lyle, Ken, Dorothy and Clinton Haggard. She is survived by daughters Maura (Richard Cecil), Carol, Jane, Sharon and Ellen Stanton and by sons Michael (Kathy), John (Linda), James (Sue), and Kevin (Leslie Mallery) Stanton, eight grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.
