Richard D. Huntzinger, 71, of Minersville, passed away Wednesday morning at Palmerton Hospital, Palmerton.
Born in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Charles and Lillian Pothering Huntzinger.
Richard attended Tremont schools, and was a Vietnam Era Army veteran.
He retired from the former Exxon Chemical Plant and its successor, Tredegar.
He was a member of St. Matthew the Evangelist Church, Minersville, and a member of the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. He was also a member of New Minersville Fire Company.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Carol Rothermel, in 2007; and an infant daughter.
He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Haydt, Bethlehem; and a son, Jeffrey Huntzinger, Pottsville; four grandchildren, Tyrus, Aaron and Curtis Huntzinger and Anya Haydt; a brother, Charles Huntzinger, Tremont; a sister, Phyllis Lorenz, Cherry Hill, N.J.; nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Matthew the Evangelist Church, 139 Spruce St., Minersville. The Rev. Leo J. Maletz will officiate. Relatives and friends were invited call at Donald J. Butler Funeral Home, 328 Sunbury St., Minersville. Interment was in St. Stanislaus No. 2 Cemetery, Minersville.
