Daniel Lee Hensley, Sr., 82, died Friday (December 19, 2014) in his home.
Born June 28, 1932 in Albemarle County, he was the son of Simeon Edward and Eva Florence (Birkhead) Hensley. Mr. Hensley was a U. S. Air Force veteran. He retired from the Department of Health, Education and Welfare, and was well known as a reliable TV and radio repairman. He attended Church on the Hill, and he enjoyed sharing many outdoor activities with his family, including archery, hunting, fishing, hiking and camping.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Simmie and James Hensley.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Arlene (Glass) Hensley; three children, Daniel L. Hensley, Jr. and wife Judy of Kennewick, Wash., Kathy Trayer and Frank Stauffer of Staunton, and Sue Daniels and husband Ken of Charlottesville; two sisters, Mabel Reed of Waynesboro and Betty Marshall and husband Sidney of Barboursville; nine grandchildren, Bridget Hoerner and husband Brandon, Jeremy McGee, Carrie Heberlig, Amanda West, Nicole Talley, Daniel Hensley III, Cora Hensley, Amber Hensley and Dustin Hensley; and eleven grandchildren, Sebrina, Dalton and Kaitlyn Hoerner, Kolbin and Aspen Heberlig, Layla West, Brooklyn Talley, Haley and Kara Hensley, and Anthony Hensley.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 23 in West Augusta Cemetery.
