OBITUARY :
JOHN F. ABBOTT, 79, a resident of Caledonia Manor, Fayetteville, and formerly of 458 Cumberland Ave., Chambersburg, died Saturday evening, Feb. 11, 1995, in the nursing home.

Born Nov. 20, 1915, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Michael and Margaret (McCafferty) Abbott.

His wife, Mary Janet (Metz) Abbott, died on Nov. 2, 1981.

Mr. Abbott was sef employed as the owner and operator of J. F. Abbott and Sons, Chambersburg.

He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Chambersburg.

He also was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 842, Charles M. Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, Hume-McNeil-Byers AMVETS Post 224, BPO Elks Lodge 600 and Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46, all of Chambersburg.

He is survived by three sons, Terrence E. Abbott and Richard A. Abbott, both of Chambersburg, and Timothy A. Abbott of Fayetteville; one brother, James Abbott of Whiting, N.J.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home Inc., Chambersburg, with the Rev. Daniel F. Lawler officiating. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services Wednesday in the funeral home.

The family requests the omission of flowers.
