Erastus Rasmussen, 73, died at his home here Monday morning after a stroke suffered Thursday.
Mr. Rasmussen, a retired farmer, had been a member of the Birch Creek school board and a member of the Birch Creek Irrigation Co. for a number of years.
He was born Dec. 21, 1873, at Mt. Pleasant, a son of Martin and Caroline Rasmussen. He received his education in Mt. Pleasant schools and Brigham Young University. He married Emma Winkelman Nov. 14, 1900, in the Manti temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. An active member of the church, Mr. Rasmussen had been a ward teacher, a home missionary and a member of the Seventies quorum. As a young man he was a member of the National Guard. He moved to Provo from Jensen, Utah county in 1941.
He is survived by his widow; four sons and five daughters, Emma W. Rasmussen, Provo; Marvin Rasmussen, Los Angeles; Que and Mont Rasmussen, Provo; Royale Rasmussen and Mrs. Harold Warren, Vernal; Mrs. Elvin Brady, Bridgeland; Alta Thomas Houthouse, Provo; Mrs. Allen Petersen, Richfield; 22 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wilford Rasmussen, Provo, and Daniel Rasmussen, Mt. Pleasant.
