Funeral Services For Mrs. Frank Mortimer
An impressive evidence of the esteem in which she was held by people who had known her through the years she had resided in Weiser, was given yesterday afternoon by the large assemblage of neighbors and friends gathered at the funeral service at Northam's chapel for Mrs. Frank Mortimer. The services were conducted by Rev. Robert B. Echols of the Episcopal church, who spoke briefly of her useful life and the confident faith with which she approached the end. Appropriate selections were sung by Mrs. J. B. Daggett, after which interment was made in Hillcrest cemetery.
Mrs. Mortimer, aged 60, passed away at the Weiser hospital on Monday morning following a long period of illness. She underwent a serious major operation some months ago and had never regained normal health or strength.
She was born in Hoopeston, Illinois and spent her childhood there. In 1897 she was united in marriage to Frank Mortimer. They came to Weiser 32 years ago and during many of the years following, she was prominent in civic and charitable activities including the presidency of the Outlook club. She is survived by her husband, one sister, Mrs. Naomi Yates, one brother, Squire Elwood Beck of Danville, Illinois and two nieces, Mrs. O.D. Adams of Weiser and Mrs. Naomi Avery of Chicago.
