A celebration of life for Tyler Markham Parks, who passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, will be 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange with the Reverend Jim Smith as the celebrant. Mr. Parks was born in Atlanta, Georgia and moved to the Daytona Beach area from there in 1964. He proudly served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam Conflict aboard the U.S. Joseph Hewes Destroyer escort. He worked for the Florida East Coast Railway briefly in 1979. He retired as Detective from the Port Orange Police Department after 33 years of faithful service. He was in the Florida Law Enforcement Olympics in 1993. He was an avid wildlife photographer and toured the gallery circuit. He was an accomplished bicyclist and bicycled all over the world. Mr. Parks leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 35 years, Mary Ann; mother-in-law, Ann Polak; sister-in-law, Irene Rodgers; three cats and a bird. He had numerous close friends that will greatly miss him but never forget him. Memorial contributions may be made to the Halifax Humane Society or the Port Orange Police Explorers or the charity of one's choice. Arrangements are under the care and trust of Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, Port Orange, FL.
