Glenna Ruth Molitor, 68, went home to her Lord and savior, Jesus the Christ, at Madrone Hospice on Dec. 14, 2014. She was a 28-year resident of Fort Jones and had been in a spirited battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma for the past two and a half years.

Glenna was born in Chico, California, on Sept. 23, 1946, and was raised in Paradise, California, by her parents, Glenn and Ruth Gallman, who predeceased her. She attended Paradise schools and graduated in June 1965. Always the learner, Glenna attended a number of colleges and universities, choosing classes that interested and challenged her.

Glenna married Alan “Al” Molitor on May 21, 1966, in Paradise, California. She waited patiently at home with her parents while Al attended basic training in San Diego and Port Hueneme. After their daughter, Ruth Alane (Borba), was born, she joined him at the SeaBee base until August 1967. During Al’s tour in Vietnam, son, Scott Alan, was born in April 1968. After Al’s return home, son, Benjamin Todd, joined his siblings in July 1969.

Glenna was a mostly stay-at-home mom, working only when the children were in school or were on their own. Her servant’s heart was apparent in all the work she chose to do, from a veterinarian’s assistant, school and camp cook, property manager, to bank teller. In later years, she was a foster mom, home health aide and a bus driver/aide for special needs youngsters.

After retirement from the Siskiyou County Office of Education, Glenna ministered with Youth With A Mission (YWAM), traveling on outreaches to India and Costa Rica.

Glenna enjoyed many pastimes ranging from cooking, gardening, quilting and spoiling her grandchildren, often in attendance at their sports and events. Throughout her life she found ways to help others and is known for her Christ-like love and hospitality given to any and all she came in contact with.

Glenna is survived by her husband of 48 years, Al; her three children, Ruth Borba (Ron), Scott Molitor (Lauri) and Benjamin Molitor (Angie). Other family members are her grandchildren, Amber Hagadorn-Rey, Robert, Dustyn, and Benita Rose Borba, together with Alexandria and Brenden Molitor. Glenna was present at the birth of the fourth generation, her great-granddaughter, Tomi Ruth Rey, in August 2012.

They all will miss their grandmother’s love and care but have stores of good memories. She is also survived by her older brother, Robert Gallman; and younger sister, Anita Koehler; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life memorial will be held at the Fort Jones Community Church on Jan. 17, 2015, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to Madrone Hospice or the Fort Jones Community Church.
