Govan graduated from Douglass High School, Oklahoma City, OK. He retired from Tinker Air Force base and is best known for designing and building his home and buying and remodeling several properties. Mr. Faine, a past president of the Oklahoma City Anthropos, also served as Anthropos Southwestern Regional President. He was a member of Steward Board Number 3 at Greater Cleaves and was named Lord of The Year by Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc.
He was a charter board member of A+ Academics, Inc. to help students excel academically, to exhibit positive behavior, to remain in school until graduation and receive college scholarships. Generous community supporters of the project motivated and encouraged youth by donating more than $10,000 in scholarships, which are awarded each year to students who participate in A+ Academics.
Govan loved to work with his hands. He was always at peace working around his home and out in his yard. He took great pride in having his grandson, Govan, II as his namesake.
Survivors include a devoted son Roger P. Faine and daughter-in-law Dedra D. Faine; grandson Govan P. Faine, II; granddaughter, Lauren V. Faine; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
