She grew up in St. Joseph, Missouri and later moved to Kansas City, Kansas. She attended Wyandotte High School. She married Roland Reed in 1944 while Roland was in the Air Force being trained as a pilot. During Roland’s military service, they lived in Florida, Alabama, and Texas. After WWII, they settled in Topeka, Kansas where Julia was a homemaker and mother. In addition, she worked at J. C. Penney’s and Topeka Public Schools. Julia and Roland moved to Olathe, Kansas in 1994 several years after Roland retired from the Santa Fe Railroad. Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Reed, of 69 years. Julia was a member of College Church of the Nazarene in Olathe.
