Steven O'Neal Pittman, known to his close friends and family as "Boober" or "Uncle Boo" passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014 in the arms of his family. Boober was definitely a gift from God. He gave us almost fifty years of the sweetest, most precious unconditional love we could ever want. He did have a little temper, but it was fleeting. Steve never met a person he did not like. He started "college" at the ARC in 2003. That made his life complete. He loved his friends and prayed for each one every night. He said he could not miss a day because his friends would miss him. He was an avid Auburn fan. The family would like to thank everyone for their calls, visits, food and most of all the prayers since the onset of his illness. Please keep those prayers coming for it's a lonely dark place without him. We would also like to think the staff of Coosa Valley Hospice, especially Chuck Terrell, Jodie Albertson, Belva Pardue, Brandon Baird and Carmen Knox for their wonderful care. Stevie is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mack and Libby Culver Pittman; maternal grandparents, Issac and Mary Strength Blankenship and a niece Mandy Edwards. He is survived by his parents Mack and Ruthie (Blankenship) Pittman; brothers, Mickey Pittman of Childersburg, AL; Rockey and Janice Sims Pittman of Sylacauga; sister, Melanie Pittman Edwards of Childersburg; three nephews, Trevor Edwards of Birmingham, Travis Edwards of Childersburg and Rockne Pittman of Sylacauga; niece, Hannah Pittman of Sylacauga; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with Rev. Chuck Terrell and Rev. D'Forrest Godfrey officiating. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Childersburg. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home. The family will accept flowers or contributions may be made to the ARC of South Talladega County, 607 West 4th Street, Sylacauga, AL 35150. Pallbearers will be Mickey Pittman, Rockey Pittman, Byron Shell, Rockne Pittman, Travis Edwards, John Norris, Trevor Edwards, Gary Mitchell and Jeff Burton. Honorary pallbearers will be Kerry Pittman and clients of the ARC.
