Emily Jo Barnes, 88, of Kenosha passed away on Wednesday December 17, 2014 at the Hospice House.

Emily Jo was born on June 28, 1926 in Quincy, IL, the daughter of the late Frederic & Glenna (Bloyd) Chandler. She was educated in the schools of Quincy & Indianapolis. Emily Jo married Norman Barnes on August 2, 1952 in Kenosha. She was employed as a secretary for the Kenosha Board of Education in her early years, and later as a homemaker. Emily Jo was a longtime member of First Christian Church. Her hobbies included reading, cross-stitching, embroidering, baking, and spending time with family & friends.

Survivors include her husband, Norman Barnes of Kenosha; her daughter, Deborah (Dominic) Gastaldi of Kenosha; and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Baker-Smith. Emily Jo was preceded in death by her step-mother, Beulah Chandler.

A visitation will be held on Saturday December 20, 2014 at Kenosha Funeral Services from 9-11:00 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.

Emily Jo’s family would like to thank the staff and care-givers of Right At Home for all of the care that they provided.

In lieu of flowers memorials to First Christian Church, Hospice Alliance, or Visiting Nurses Association would be appreciated.
