W. Eugene Dale, 82, a resident of ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg, and formerly of 13790 Molly Pitcher Highway, Greencastle, died Wednesday evening, December 17, 2014 in the emergency room of the Chambersburg Hospital. Born June 29, 1932 in Dallas, TX, he was the son of the late Arthur Eugene and Emma Lou (Long) Dale. Mr. Dale was a high school graduate and later served in the United States Army Reserves. He and his wife, the late Nancy C. (Barnhart) Minnick Dale, were married on October 5, 1979. Mrs. Dale died on February 26, 2013. Mr. Dale was a lifelong Southern Baptist minister who was dedicated to his faith. He also enjoyed street ministry and serving various churches throughout his life. He is survived by two sons, Kerry E. Dale of Dallas, TX and Michael S. Dale and his wife, Margo of May Pearl, TX; four step-children, Clinton E. Minnick of Springtown, TX, Daniel J. Minnick of Dallas, Bruce L. Minnick and his wife, Laurie, of Garland, TX and Koreen A. Smetzer and her husband, Rob of Clear Spring, MD; one grandson, Jeremy Dale; five step-grandchildren, Ashley Minnick, Jacob Minnick, Rachel Trivett, Brittany Smetzer and Ryan Smetzer; one great-granddaughter, Cheyenne Dale; one step-great-grandson, Joseph Trivett; one sister, Lynda Wright of Waxahachie, TX; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, December 22, 2014 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Pastor Ky Searcy officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Monday morning, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Antrim Brethren in Christ Church, 24 East Kauffman Road, Greencastle, PA 17225 or The American Diabetes Association.
