He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago, Ill., after 26 years. He was a Baptist and a member of the Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Virginia Essary Roberts of Corinth; two sons, Ernie Roberts and wife, Karen, of Winthrop Harbor, Ill., and Kenny Roberts of Park City, Ill.; six sisters, Blanche Speck and husband, Levi, Mary Harbor and husband, Loyce, Joyce Copeland and husband, Roy, and Evelyn Miller and husband, Jerry, all of Baldwyn, Clara Rogers and husband, Tommy, of Tishomingo, and Ann Porter and husband, Frank, of Ecru; four grandchildren, Kelly, Eric, Tara and Andy Roberts.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
