Patricia L. 'Patsy' Sandefur, age 70, was born June 3, 1935 to Walter and Lois O'Brien and grew up in Lockridge. She was a 3rd and 4th generation descendant of the original 1889 Land Run settlers to the Lockridge area. She died April 19, 2006 in Oklahoma City. She was a graduate of Edmond High School in 1953 and became a Certified Municipal Clerk from Oklahoma State University. She retired from the City of Edmond with 22 years of service as the Assistant City Manager/ City Clerk and served as acting City Manager/City Clerk on many occasions. She went on to serve as the City Manager for the City of Guthrie for 4 years. For the past 4 years she worked part time for the Edmond South Tag Agency and Kerr 3. Patsy was the past President of Edmond Alumni Association and Secretary to numerous City of Edmond Boards and Committees. She was also a prior member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, 1889'ers Society, the Edmond Historical Society, President of St. Patrick's Cemetery Association, and past secretary of St. Monica Catholic Church. Her passion was genealogical research and tracing family origins. Her greatest accomplishments were sharing life with her husband of 47 years, E.M. 'Buddy' Sandefur and mother to 3 loving daughters and grandchildren. Her family was her sustaining rock and very precious to her. She was preceded in death by her father Walter O'Brien, husband Buddy, daughter Deborah Ann Lester, and sisters Carol Crabb and Sue Woodside.She is survived by her daughters, Terri McKay and husband Mike, Pam Timmons and husband John. Her grandchildren include Brian McKay and wife Lacey, Corey Timmons, Andy Timmons and wife Tanya, and Jessi Brack and husband Chris. Survivors also include her mother Lois Cunningham and sister Faye Meeker. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Monica Catholic Church or Infant Crisis Services. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 22, at St. Monica Catholic Church with interment following at Gracelawn Cemetery.
