Julia J. Bezek, 80, of Virginia died Thursday, June 10, 2004, in the Hospice Unit at St. Marys Medical Center in Duluth.

She was born on Dec. 12, 1923, to John and Mary (Segan) Skalko in Sparta Location and grew up there. Julia was the seventh of 12 children and graduated from the Gilbert High School in 1941. Julia married Stanley J. Bezek of Pineville on Aug. 8, 1946. She raised two children, Stan and Jan. She was dedicated, hardworking, and busy as a wife, mother and grandmother. She lived a simple life and wanted only to be remembered for the legacy she left, her nine grandchildren of whom she was extremely proud.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Stanley; son, Stanley (Carrie) Bezek; daughter, Janice (Steve) Malin; grandchildren, Sarah Bezek, Sam Bezek, Maggie Bezek, Emily Bezek, Hannah and Molly Bezek, Andy (Mary Edith) Malin, Joe Malin and Anna Malin; brothers: Mike (Frances) Skalko, Matt Skalko, Dan (Francis) Skalko, Steve (Helen) Skalko, Bill Skalko, John (Luverne) Skalko and Ed (Marion) Skalko; sisters, Eva (Bill) Holmes and Ellen (John) Drobnick; and sister-in-law, Janet Skalko.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Anne Granroth 11/15/1998; brother, Frank Skalko; and sisters-in-law, Lila and Corrine Skalko.
