Jack E. Montgomery, 91, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of December 12, 2014 at Jameson Care Center.

Born September 11, 1923 in New Castle, he was a son of Vance E. and Bertha McClymonds Montgomery.

Jack is survived by his wife of 68 happy years, Doris Jean Daugherty Montgomery, whom he married August 9, 1946.

He was a June, 1941 graduate of New Castle High School.
Jack was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 88th Signal Company during the Italian Campaign.

He worked for Bell of Pennsylvania, retiring from the Engineering Department in 1985.

Jack was a life member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, having served as elder and Sunday school teacher.
He was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America, the Mahoning Masonic Lodge #243, and New Castle Consistory.

Among his many interests, Jack enjoyed woodworking and reading. He especially enjoyed his family, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Carol (Frank) Krause of Beaver, Pa, and Susan Harcar of New Castle; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Krause, Carrie (Tad) Kuvik, Amanda (Matt) Gray, Stephanie (Jason) McClellan, and Ryan (Alyssa) Harcar; and 6 great-grandchildren, Alex and Jason Kuvik, Zachary and Kate McClellan, and Zoey and Sydney Harcar.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard Mongtomgery; one sister, Aleta Peck; and a son-in-law, Dennis Harcar.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.

A funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Andrew Jillson officiating.

Military rites will be performed by the New Castle Area Honor Guard.

Burial will be in Castle View Gardens.
