Micajah Aldridge, miller, and son of Richard and Lucy (Pleasant) Aldridge, was born in Caswell County, N. C., May 10, 1832. The parents were natives of North Carolina, and died in Webster County, Mo., the father in 1853 and the mother in 1867. The family came to Missouri as early as 1839, and settled in Webster County. Micajah Aldridge is the fourth of eight children, seven of whom are now living. He assisted his father on the farm until grown, and in 1852 commenced tilling the soil on his own responsibility. He was married in June, 1854, to Miss Elizabeth Moore. who was born in North Carolina January 20, 1831, and who bore him seven children: Martha A., born March 28, 1855; Candice S., born July 15, 1865; Allie B., born October 20, 1869, and Sterling Roy, born October 26, 1875, living, and three deceased: an infant, born March 8, 1859; Williamson, born April 25, 1860, died June 11, 1860; and an infant daughter, born March 6, 1863, died July 29, 1863. Mr. Aldridge continued farming until 1885, when he sold his farm, one of the best in Webster County. He was for many years one of the most extensive tobacco growers in that county, and was quite successful in this enterprise. In the fall of 1880 Mr. Aldridge removed to Marshfield, where he carried on the lumber business until about 1885, and also engaged in the livery business, which he still continues. He is engaged in buying grain, and also runs a flouring mill. He has been very successful in all his business ventures, and is one of the leading business men of Marshfield. In politics he is Democratic, of the uncompromising type, and cast his first presidential vote for James Buchanan. He was a Mason for several years, and Mrs. Aldridge is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. His paternal grandfather served through the Revolutionary War, and died in Caswell County, N. C.
