Ruth Barb, age 88, of Edwards, Missouri, passed away Monday, December 15, 2014 at the Lincoln Community Nursing Home in Lincoln, Missouri. She was born on April 8, 1926 in Sedalia, Missouri, the daughter of Edward James and Stella Grace (Coon) Williams.
She grew up in Lincoln and graduated from Lincoln High in 1944. She was united in marriage to Chalmer W. Barb on January 25, 1945 at the court house in Kansas City, Kansas. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 1966 and her master’s degree in special education in 1969. She taught for thirty-nine years, first at Feaster’s Branch, then at R-10, then Warsaw R-3 Elementary, retiring at Warsaw R-9 South Elementary in 1985.
She is a member of the First Baptist Church of Warsaw and the Missouri Retired Teachers Association.
She is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Stella Grace Williams, a step-mother, Pearl Williams, two brothers, Herb Williams and Chloe Williams and one sister Betty Kline.
She is survived by four sons; Martin Barb, and his wife Sherry, of Mission, Kansas, Robert Barb, and his wife Debra, of Warsaw, Missouri, William Barb, and his wife Jackie, of Edwards, Missouri and James Barb, and his wife Cynthia, of Warsaw, seven grandchildren; Nathan Barb, and his wife Jodi, of Edwards, Missouri, Jacqueline Moncrief, and her husband Todd, of Springdale, Arkansas, Thomas Barb, and his wife Andrea, of Elk Horn, Nebraska, Myron Barb, and his wife Renae, of Edwards, Missouri, Sarah Joos, and her husband Dan, of Morton, Illinois, Donna Barb, of Lewisville, Texas and Kevin Barb, and his wife Ashley, of Wichita, Kansas, eight great-grandchildren; Creighton and Sophia Panas, Phoebe, Phillipa, Justine, Jayln and Colton Barb and Zachary Joos, three sisters; Loretta Harms, of Lincoln, Missouri, Evelyn Barb, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri and Gwendolyn Duncan, of Olathe, Kansas, a sister-in law, Darlene Allen, of Warsaw, numerous nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were held December 18, 2014, at the First Baptist Church of Warsaw with Rev. Danny Decker officiating, followed by burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Warsaw, MO. Suggested memorials: Benton County Hospice or Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, MO.
