She was preceded in death by her mother, Katherine Wyatt, and her brothers Dale and Ernie Wyatt.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Kenneth Stevens; her son, Martin Stapleton of Townsend, her father, Ernest Wyatt of Townsend; her sister Marlene (Billy) Garlic of Townsend; children Kenneth Stevens, Jr. (Amy), John Stevens (Teresa) of Clayton, Kevin Stevens (Shannon) of Red Lion, Melissa Stevens of Woodside; grandchildren, Kodey, Daniel and Paige Stapleton and Marshall, Ashley, Robert, Kenny III, John T., Kara, Alex, Amber, JD, Christopher, Gavin, Allie, Kevey Stevens and Alyzai Short; great-grandchildren Hunter Chase and Kayle Stevens and Damien, Austin and Ailiah Campbell. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Born November 5, 1951 in Wilmington, Darlene was a lifelong resident of Townsend. She attended Middletown High School and spent her whole live in the MOT area. She worked for many years at Hercules Corporation. She most cherished her titles of mother and grandmother (Big Dar). Darlene was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her son, her grandchildren, her step-children, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family, her friends and all of her “adopted” sons.
In her later years Darlene loved her winters spent in Florida with her twin sister Big Mar.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 23rd at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad Street, Middletown where friends may visit with the family at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at the Townsend Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday evening, December 22nd 6-8 pm.
