Enlisted in Company B, New York 94th Infantry Regiment on 10 Mar 1862. Mustered out on 26 Apr 1862 at Alexandria, VA.

He died in Illinois, probably at Chillicothe or Peoria. He taught for many years at these two places. He was an extraordinary mathematician, a skilled gunsmith, a violinist, and made picture frames with inlaid mother of pearl and gutta percha.
