Vera J. (Draper) Hertenstein, aged 88, of Sandwich, Illinois, and formerly of Wayne City, Illinois, went on to glory with Jesus Christ on April 19, 2006 in Rockford, Illinois. Born on February 3, 1918 in Dayton, Illinois, to the late Chancy and Zelma (Ward) Draper, she was a long time member of the Wayne City Methodist Church.

Mrs. Hertenstein was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Irvin Hertenstein (in 1949); and two sisters, Bertha Draper and Olive (Draper) Carstens.

Mrs. Hertenstein was survived by her loving children, Mardel (Hertenstein) Manion (and husband George) of Plano, Illinois, and Lonnie Hertenstein (and wife Betty Jean) of Belvidere, Illinois; two sisters, Erma (Draper) Barlow of Wayne City and Bernice (Draper) Tullis of Mill Shoals, Illinois; two brothers, Burrel Draper (and wife Fern) of Ottawa, Illinois and George Draper (and wife Eileen) of Peru, Illinois; seven grandchildren; and seventeen great-grand-children.

Visitation was on Wednesday, April 20th 5-8 PM at the Beverage Family Funeral Home of Sandwich. Funeral Services were 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22nd, at the Richardson Funeral Home in Wayne City, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
