FREDA B. (BERTSCH) START, 100, of Main Avenue, and formerly of Meadowbrook Terrace, Warwick Avenue, died Friday in Harborside Healthcare-Greenwood House.
She was the wife of the late Charles Start. Born in East Providence, a daughter of the late Christian M. and Anna (Geisert) Bertsch, she had lived in Providence before moving to Warwick in 1976.
Mrs. Start was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Providence, and its Ladies Guild.
She leaves a sister, Caroline Heller of Johnston; and several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was the mother of the late Dorothy Start, and a sister of the
late William, Arbie, C. Frederick, Henry, Paul, Herman, George, Herbert and Walter Bertsch, M. Katie Osterman and Minnie Braun.
The funeral will be on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., with a service at 11 in St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elmwood Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in Spring Vale Cemetery, East Providence.
