Benny Lynn Sanders was called to Heaven to spend Christmas with his deceased daughter Elizabeth on December 12, 2014. Mr. Sanders was born on October 24, 1931 in Ruston, Louisiana to Roy and Ottice Sanders.

An avid LSU Tiger and Boston Red Sox fan, he attended and graduated from Readhimer High School in 1948. He then left home to go to Louisiana State University and later graduated from Northwestern State University with a Bachelor's degree in education. He found his niche at Hackberry High School, teaching and coaching for 31 years, where he coached the first eleven man football team in the school's history. He also ran the Hackberry Recreation Center for a number of years. He loved the small community and took pride in his endeavors there. However, he had to move back home to help take care of his mother.

Mr. Sanders leaves behind many treasures he cherished including: his bride of 63 years Eloise Babers Sanders; his only son Jeffrey Sanders and wife Cheryl; his daughters Teresa LeBlanc and husband Terry, Jeanne LaFleur and husband Tim, Tara Poole and husband Dewitt, and Lisa Sanders; twelve grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind one brother, Dana Roy Sanders, and one sister, Mary Weaver, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A service to honor his life will be 1 pm Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home chapel in Natchitoches, LA. Interment will follow at Briarwood Cemetery in Saline, LA. The family will receive friends from 10 am until the time of service on Wednesday the 17th.
