Professional Football Player. Nicknamed “Fuzzy” he was an offensive lineman and a key player for Vince Lombardi’s Green Bay Packers winning Championship teams. An All American at Valparaiso University, Indiana, he was drafted in the fifth round by Philadelphia Eagles in 1956. He drifted between the Eagles, Chicago Bears, then to the Baltimore Colts, where he helped the Colts to the 1958 Championship win. Going to the Green Bay Packers, he played (1959–67), and was on 6 NFL Championship wins, including the first two Super Bowl team wins under Vince Lombardi, plus was on the All-Pro Teams (1961-62). He is a member of the 1975 Packers Hall of Fame, was inducted into to the Indiana Football Hall of Fame in 1982 and into the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003. He is also author of the autobiography book, “What a Wonderful World: The Fuzzy Thurston Story” (2006). He died of cancer at age 80.
