Nancy (Ware) Hodges was the daughter of Nicholas Ware (IV) (b. 12 Aug. 1739 in Gloucester Co., Va.) & Martha (Hodges) Ware. In January of 1786 she married James L. Hodges in the Abbeville District of South Carolina. There were eleven known children born of this union who lived to maturity. They were:

2. Elizabeth Hodges, b. 25 Mar. 1788
3. Mary Hodges, b. 5 May 1790
4. John Hodges, b. 24 Mar. 1792
5. James Hodges, Jr., b. 24 July 1794

7. Reuben Hodges, b. 23 July 1799
