The beautiful and inspiring life of Mrs. Catherine R. Boyd, age 84 of Littleton, NC, came to a peaceful end as she transitioned into eternal rest on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Wake Medical Center, Raleigh, NC.

Catherine, one of ten children of the late Rev. Luther T Royster and Mamie Peace Royster, was born May 24, 1930 in Warren County, NC.

She received her formal education beginning in Warren County and ending in Halifax County.

At an early age, she confessed faith in Christ and joined Cedar Branch Baptist Church and served diligently until her health began to fail. She served as President of the Senior Choir and was a Mother of the Church.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Elijah Boyd on November 27, 1949 and God blessed their union with fourteen children. Her husband and three children: Alvin Boyd, Ronald Boyd, Bishop Darin Boyd and Vanessa Boyd Knight, preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Mable R. Brown, Helen R. Crews, Rosana R. Powell, Mary R. Alston, Luther Royster, Major Royster and Aaron Royster.

Treasured memories will remain with her devoted children: Delores Jefferies (Thurman) of Newark, NJ, Celestine Ashe of Brooklyn, NY, Lavern Williams (David) of Littleton, NC, Sandra McCullers of Newport News, VA, Glenford Boyd of the home, Cathy Porter (Efrem) of Richmond, VA, Bishop Joe Nathan Boyd (Claudette) of Brooklyn, NY, Rev. Stafford Boy (Jacqueline) of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Stanley Boyd of Newport News, VA and Arvis Boyd (Ernestine) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; thirty-eight grandchildren, fifty-four great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; her sister and brotherr: Estelle Royster Phipps of Littleton, NC and Nathaniel Royster of Baltimore, MD; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

A Celebration Honoring the Life and Spirit of Mrs. Catherine Royster Boyd will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. from the sanctuary of Cedar Branch Missionary Baptist Church, Littleton, NC with the Pastor, Rev. McArthur Rosser giving words of comfort.

Mrs. Boyd will be laid to rest in the Boyd Family Cemetery (at the homesite), Littleton, NC.
