Donald married Kathleen Micksch on Nov 8th, 1947, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Green Bay. He was employed at Northwest Engineering in Green Bay for 41 years, working in the Parts Department until his retirement in 1982. At that time he and his wife, Kathleen, moved to Mauston to join in the management and ownership of Castle Rock Golf Course. He was famous for his garlic toast and chicken booyah, which were served in the clubhouse. He also loved to golf, beginning in his pre-teen years and continuing through the age of 91. He played for many years in the Men's League and Senior League at the Castle Rock Golf Course, was an avid fan of the Green Packers, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, including terms as Grand Knight.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen, who died on May 1st, 2009.
