Mitch Cwiek, 75, of Caseville, died at J.P.K Hospital in Atlantis, Fla., following complications of a stroke.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Pigeon with the Rev. Barney Janowicz officiating. Burial will be in Caseville Twp. Cemetery.
Mr. Cwiek was born Oct. 12, 1921 in Poland and moved to the U.S. as a youth with his parents the late Anthony and Ewa (Darcz) Cwiek.
On June 16, 1945, he married Theresa Ploski while in the service in Laredo, Texas.
Mr. Cwiek was employed as a boiler repairman for the Public Lighting Commission, city of Detroit, for almost 40 years, retiring in 1977. That same year, they moved to Caseville, where they had a cottage for many years.
He was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Caseville Eagles Aiere No. 3690, Knights of Columbus No. 8042, past state Deputy of the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa; daughter, Christina Knight of Munich, Germany: three sons, Michael (Karen) Cwiek of Clawson, Mark (Patricia) Cwiek of Mt. Pleasant, and David (Maureen) Cwiek of East Pointe; and eight grandchildren.
