Wife of Noted Oil Magnate, Financier And Sportsman Dies.
Los Angeles. With her husband at her side, Mrs Genevieve Hancock, wife of Capt. G. Allan Hancock, financier, oil magnate and noted sportsman and explorer, died at St. Vincent’s Hospital late Saturday of a heart ailment with which she was stricken only a few days ago.
Mrs. Hancock had been in ill health for a number of years, but her condition did not become grave until she suffered a heart attack early last week She was taken to the hospital from the family home in Westwood.
Funeral rites probably will take place Tuesday.
The daughter of Mrs and Mrs. Andrew Mullen, Los Angeles pioneers, Mrs. Hancock long had been prominent in the city’s social and philanthropic circles, although her illness had compelled her to withdraw from an active life.
