Thomas Edwin "Eddie" Phillips was born in Truro, Cornwall, England. He came to this country after having met his future wife, Jessie Foxwell, while she was in England with her father. He followed her back to the United States and married her on Christmas Day, 1907 at her sister's home in Des Moines, IA. During their marriage, the couple lived mostly in western Nebraska, in Harrison and Chadron. Later they moved to Wisconsin, where Jessie's parents had been born, and still later went to Florida for a few years, before returning to Nebraska to live in Lincoln for the few years before Eddie's death. After his death, Jessie went to live with her daughter in Kansas City, but when she died, she was returned to Lincoln to lie next to her husband.
