Salvador Leonardo Abaunza
11/6/1925 - 07/25/2013

Salvador was born in El Bluff, Nicaragua to Graciela Real and Salvador Leonardo. At the age of 10, he was sent to Managua to study. It was there that he met the love of his life, Daisy Salmeron. After a long courtship, they married in 1953 and moved to New Orleans to begin their life together. They lived in New Orleans for 11 years. They had 3 children and finally settled in San Francisco in 1964. Salvador was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved grandmother, Juanita Real, his sisters Amanda and Delia and his brother, Alberto. Our mother passed away in 2011 and he never quite recovered from that. In the end, it was a broken heart that took our father.

He is survived by his children - Salvador (Marion), Alvaro, Carmen (Kevin) Katerndahl, his grandchildren Elizabeth (Seth) Tipton, Karla (Dave) Larsen and Kevin (Elyse) Katerndahl and his cherished great-granddaughter, Jordan Tipton. He is also survived by his sisters - Yolanda, Juanita, Ana Julia, Adriana and Matilde, as well as his cousin and closest friend, Hernan Arostegui. He also leaves behind several cousins, nieces and nephews and a wealth of good friends.

A Rosary will be held Monday evening, July 29th at 7:00 PM at Christ The King Parish, 199 Brandon Road, Pleasant Hill, CA. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 30th at 10:30 AM at Christ The King, followed by a reception in the parish hall. Interment will be private.
