Mr. Norman "Jake" W. Jacobs, 84, of Kingsford Heights, Ind., died Sunday April 27, 2014 at Golden Living Center Fountainview in La Porte, Ind. He was born Jan. 14, 1930, in French Lick, Ind., the son of Charles Elliott Jacobs and Jessie Lee (Noe) Jacobs.

Norman worked as a welder fabricator for New York Blower, retiring in 1994. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korea War, between 1949-1952 where he was a drill master assistant. Norman was an avid gardener and loved to cook.

On June 24, 1950, in Washington, Ind., he married Patricia A. (Cockerham) Jacobs who survives.

He is also survived by his two sons, Steve (Rosalie) Jacobs of Kingsford Heights, Ind., Norman "Bruce" (Kim) Jacobs of Walkerton, Ind.; daughter, Erika (Cecil) Cochran of Winamac, Ind.; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and an extended family.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Charles Edward Jacobs and sister, Mary Laverne Fair.
