“Bill” was born Dec. 25, 1946, in Charleston, W.Va., the son of the late William E. and Barbara A. (Castor) Comer Sr.
He graduated from Wheeling High School in West Virginia. Bill enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. He earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Rifle Marksmanship Badge. Bill was proud to be a Marine.
He and his family moved to the Youngstown area in 1993.
Bill was in construction for more than 40 years. He was also a heavy equipment mechanic and welder. He worked for Marta Track Constructors Inc. in Washington, Pa., for more than 25 years, retiring in 2011.
Bill is survived by his wife of 42 years, the former Rebecca M. Sharp, whom he married June 6, 1972; a son, Matthew W. Comer of Youngstown; two brothers, Mike (Debbie) Comer of Findlay, and Larry (Janet) Comer of Friendswoods, Texas; three sisters, Kay Comer of Parkersville, W.Va., Debbie (Al) Cooley of Dickinson, Texas, and Patty (Al) Jobe of Huntington, W.Va.
Full military honors will take place at Tod Homestead Cemetery.
