Rebecca Clark was born in Illinois but her family heritage is unknown. She married Frederick Kuster on June 17, 1856, in Ellis County, Texas. Frederick was the son of Kaspar Kuster and Barbara Sterchi. In Ellis County, Texas, Rebecca had three children with Frederick.
1) John Frederick on Dec 29, 1856
2) Henry Albert on Sep 1, 1860

On March 1, 1862, Frederick joined Colonel Henry Darnell's 18th Texas Cavalry, in Captain Franklin Lewis Farrar's company H, to serve the Confederacy (CSA). The 18th Texas was captured by Union forces at the Battle of Arkansas Post (Fort Hindman) on January 11, 1863, but company H, and Frederick, was on special assignment and avoided capture. Frederick was listed on the 18th Texas, company H, muster roll for Mar/Apr 1863. Frederick was furloughed May to August and during this time, Company H was renamed company D under Colonel Charles Morgan's battalion of Texas Cavalry. Frederick is shown on the company D muster list for Sep/Oct 1863. In 1864 a daughter was born.
3) Mary Jane "Margaret" on Mar 17, 1864

Frederick is thought to have died in the Civil War before the birth of his daughter, around Nov/Dec of 1863, as no further record of him nor anymore children born. By 1870, Rebecca was in Richland County, Illinois, living with Frederick's mother Barbara Kuster.

Rebecca wed Henry Stoltz on April 10, 1873, and to this marriage was born two children.
1) Arena in 1874
2) Grace E. in 1879

The family lived in German Township in Richland County. Her death notice reads, "Mrs Rebecca Stoltz wife of Henry Stoltz died at the family residence in German Twp. Tuesday PM. Her remains were interred in the Cotterell Cemetery Wednesday. She was 62 years old."

Gravesite Details

I find no record of Cotterell Cemetery. It is possible that was the name before it was changed to Stoltz Cemetery: Katherine Ludwig.
