French Nobility. She was the oldest daughter of Thibaut V, Count of Blois and Chartres and his second wife Alix de France, a daughter of Eleanor of Aquitaine from her first marriage. In 1183 she married Hugh III de Oisy who died in 1189. A year after his death she married Otto von Hohenstaufen, Count Palatine of Burgundy and gave birth to two daughters. Jeanne succeeded her father in 1200 but died only five years after him and was succeeded by her sister Beatrice. During their daughters minority she acted as regent for them in Burgundy until Beatrix married Otto of Andechs-Meran who took over from her. She married a third time Gautier II de Avesnes and gave birth to three children. Thibaut died young, Isabelle married Jean de Oisy and Marie, as her parents heir, married Hugo I. de Châtillon. After the death of her nephew Thibaut VI in 1218 she became Countess of Blois and Chateaudun. By her daughter Beatrix she is great-grandmother of Elisabeth of Orlamünde and Othon V de Salins. She was first buried at St Etienne and was moved to St Jean in 1674.
