Mr. Randall Laverne "Duck" Day age 79, passed away Monday evening January 7, 2008 at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a resident of Mt. Gilead Church Road in Sparta. He was born in White County,TN. to the late William and Sally Pierce Knowles Day and was the husband of the late Thelma Ruth "Tootie" Graham Day and father of the late Joe Kenneth Day.

He was a retired carpenter, retired from the White County Rescue Squad, was with the Boy Scouts for 40 years, retired from the White County Fair Board and was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

He is survived by his 2 sons: Randall (Jane) Day of Sparta and Dean (Patty) Day of Mt.Juliet,TN 1 Daughter: Cynthia (Jeff) Baker of Houston,Texas, Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law: Nancy & Clayton Jones of Sparta, 5 Grandchildren: Jody, Matthew, and Sallie Day, Alex and Bayleigh Baker, 5 Great-Grandchildren: Jourdan, Anna, Lexie, Kiersten, and Grace.

Funeral Service will be Thursday, January 10, 2008 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of HUNTER FUNERAL HOME with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with the honors from the Sons of Confederate Veterans. The Family will receive friends after 6 pm on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
