Dell slocum was born at Eden Corners, Erie county, New York, July 3, 1836. She later came west and on October 1, 1867, was married to Marden Brown at Northfield, Minn. Mr. and Mrs. Brown at once came to Douglas county, arriving in Hudson on October 12, 1867, settling on a homestead. That township has been Mrs. Brown's home cine. Mr. Brown died April 12, 1893. For the past nineteen years Mrs. Brown has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. E. J. Robards.
Mrs. Brown had been in poor health for many years. She was a patient sufferer, of a kindly, thoughtful nature and for those qualities held in high esteem by all who knew her. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. E. J. Robards, of Hudson, and one brother, B. C. Slocum, of Castle Rock, Minn.
The funeral was held at the home this afternoon at two-thirty o'clock, the Rev. A. A. Secord officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Union Lake cemetery beside those of Mr. Brown.
