Born in New Haven to William and Maude (Baldwin) Bowden. She is preceded in death by her parents: her husband of 60 years, Walter Whllie; two daughters, Nancy Badiali and Priscilla Wyllie; three grandchildren, Barbara Brody, John Badiali, and Michael Badiali; and a brother, Robert Bowden. Ruth is survived by 2 sons and a daughter all of East Haven. Also 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and caregivers.

Ruth was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary Local 1205 and served 60 years in the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Branford Manor Fire Dept Ladies Auxiliary for more than 75 years. For years Ruth worked at the elections polls in East Haven. She lived in Momauguin for more than 80 years.

A funeral service was held on Oct 28 in Trinity Episcopal Church, Branford. There were no calling hours. Burial followed at East Lawn Cemetery in East Haven. Donations were requested to Branford Manor Ladies Aux, East Haven, in Ruth's honor to support the Pediatric Burn Unit.
