Owen Eugene Olson, age 85, passed away October 2, 1995 at the Sunshine Terrace in Logan, Utah.
Owen was born February 27, 1910 at Birch Creek (Mt. Pleasant), Sanpete County, Utah, a son of Olof and Jensina Olson. He married Gwenever Clark Corbett in Logan, Utah on March 24, 1962. The marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on August 22, 1966.
Owen was raised on the family farm and graduated from North Sanpete High School. In 1946 Owen left the farm and moved to Mt. Pleasant. He worked on construction projects until 1950 when the Korean War broke out. The National Guard unit he belonged to was called into active service. A year later Owen was sent to North Korea where he took part in several battles. After returning from Korea, he worked for the highway department for 22 years retiring in 1974.
In 1976 Owen and his wife moved to Springville to make their home. He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the MIA and as superintendent of the Sunday School for 11 years. He also served as first counselor in the bishopric and as a temple worker with his wife.
Owen is survived by his wife, Gwenever; one stepson, Joseph C. Corbett (Bonnie) of Millville and two stepdaughters: Marie Olson (David) of St. George and Mary Benjamin (Lynn) of Kaysville. He is also survived by his brother, Ike C. Olson of Price; his sister, Eunice Larson (Reed) of Emery and a niece who was raised in his parent's home, Ila Christenson, of Moroni. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Rhoda Bonnie and Greselda Sabin and two brothers: Lorin Olson and Ray Olson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 5, 1995 at 11 a.m. in Kolob Stake Center, 1230 So. 500 East, Springville. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary.
