David “Dave” Bacon, age 78 of Hastings, died Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Regina Medical Center following a recent illness.
David J., the son of Richard and Evelyn (Polifka) Bacon, was born on September 2, 1936 in Hastings. He was active in the National Guard and also served in the Army for a brief time. On November 26, 1961, he was united in marriage to Beverly Ramacier at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hastings. She recently preceded him in death on November 13, 2014. Dave was a lifelong employee at 3M Cottage Grove. Following his retirement from 3M, he enjoyed working at Hidden Greens Golf Course and playing golf with his friends. He also enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, wintering in Lake Havasu, Arizona with Bev, and following all of the Minnesota sports teams.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Lois; his son Thomas Paul; and by his wife Bev.
Dave is survived by his three children, Anthony “Tony” (Dana) Bacon of Apple Valley, John (Tammy) Bacon of Hastings, and LeeAnne (Marc) Hawkinson of Lonsdale; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Abby, Jeffrey, Nicole, Dominick, Hannah, and Sammy; three great grandchildren; brother Richard (Mary) Bacon of Hastings; and by other relatives and friends.
A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, December 2 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 201 7th St. E., in Hastings, with a 7:00 PM prayer service officiated by Gordon Gathright. Private family inurnment will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings.
