Brenell Brister, 75, of Ruth, died April 12, 2006, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.

Visitation is 7 to 9 tonight at Powell's Grove United Pentecostal Church in Ruth and continues noon Friday at the church until services there at 2 p.m. The Rev. Michael Dykes and the Rev. Ray Bowling will officiate.

Burial will be in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Jayess. Community Funeral Services in Brookhaven is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Brister was born July 20, 1930, in Lincoln County, to Robert Milton Brister and Carrie Amanda Boyd Brister.

He was retired and had worked in the oilfield and as a carpenter. He was a member of Powell's Grove United Pentecostal Church.

Mr. Brister was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; six sisters; his first wife, Nellie Ruth Barnett Brister; and a daughter, Charlotte Brister.

Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Brister of Ruth; a son, Joseph Brenell Brister of Alexandria, La.; three daughters, Regina Roden of Jackson, Rachel Long of Alexandria and Rebecca Firster of Forsyth, Ga.; two brothers, James Brister of Slidell, La., and Edo Brister of Thermopolis, Wyo.; three sisters, Ruby Dalton of Topeka, Daphanie Sumrall of Foxworth and Idwa Alexander of Ruth; 12 grandchildren, Trey Thames, Andrea Lewis, Jennifer Slaughter, John Roden, Celena Lewis, Chip Price, Quaid Long, Tarah Long, Cameron Brister, Meagan Brister, Thomas Firster and Alan Firster; and seven great-grandchildren.
