Gilda's naturalization papers state that she married Michele Cavallaro in Providence on her birthday, July 14, 1921. It also shows she emigrated under the name of Gilda Mele, her step-father's surname, on Jan 31, 1907, aboard the SS Konigin Luise.

Obituary:

Gilda E. Cavallaro, 91, of Canton Street died Thursday at Roger Williams Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Michael A. Cavallaro.

Born in Rockominvia [Roccamonfina], Italy, she was a daughter of the late Gaetano and Anna (Boragine) Forchione. She came to this country at the age of 6, settling in Providence.

Mrs. Cavallaro was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, Providence.

She leaves a daughter, Etta G. Shevlin of Providence; 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late B.A. Cavallaro and the late Evelyn A. Misuraca. She was the sister of the late John Forchione, Bertha Germani and Elsie Coco.

The funeral will be held Monday at 8 a.m. from Thomas Gattone & Son Funeral Home, 334 Broadway, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 at Blessed Sacrament Church, Academy Avenue. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston.
