Ralph C. “Pete” Amato, 84 of Presbyterian Village of Hollidaysburg, formerly of Tipton, died late Sunday evening at the home.
He was born in Altoona son of the late Ralph F. and Evelyn (Peck) Amato. He married Margaret C. McSorley on June 16, 1956 at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona. She preceded him in death on June 29, 2011.
Surviving are a son, Ralph J. (Dana) of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Tammy M. of Altoona; two sisters, Mary Himes of Altoona and Nancy Little of Florida. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Joanne and Evelyn; and three brothers, Albert and Raymond Amato and Donald Peck.
He was a veteran of the US Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict. Pete retired as a foreman at SKF Industries, Altoona. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bellwood and Knights of Columbus Monsignor O’Malley Chapter.
Friends will be received from 9am until the 10am funeral mass Thursday, November 6, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bellwood, Rev. David H. Roesch, celebrant.
Committal will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Township. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bellwood or Presbyterian Village of Hollidaysburg Benevolent Care Fund.
