Ruthie Helen (Bailey) Slaughter, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2014, at the age of 78.
She was born on March 5, 1936, in Seymour, Texas, to Dan and Dimple Bailey.

She was raised by her grandmother in Brownfield, Texas, where she met her husband of 62 years, Earl Slaughter. They moved to Amarillo for Earl's Job in 1966, and lived there until moving to Ruidoso after retirement. Later in 2013, they moved to Boerne to be with their son, Ronnie. Ruthie and Earl's favorite pastimes were boating and spending time together on the lake.

Ruthie was a hard worker who was honest as the day is long, and she had a fabulous sense of humor. She was a beautiful lady, inside and out, and was loved and admired by all who knew her.

Ruthie is survived by her husband, Earl Slaughter; their children, Ronnie Slaughter of Boerne and Cindie Hicks and husband Dennis of Hereford; her sister, Tommy Price of New Jersey; and her brother, Kenneth Cheves of Poland. Ruthie is also survived by her grandchildren, Landon Slaughter and Carrisa Hoelscher. She was blessed with 2 great grandchildren, Evan and Grace Meyer.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her grandmother; her brother, Larry Pool; her sister, Vonda Pennington; and her grandchild, Cassidy Meyer.
