She was born Friday, the 17th of October 1930 in Bladenboro, North Carolina, one of four children to the late Byron Clifford Bullard and Ludie Harden Bullard. She was a graduate of King’s Business College in Charlotte, NC and retired in 1991 from Duke Energy Co. after 42 years of loyal service.
“Lib”, as she was affectionately known, was a former member of Southside Baptist Church where the family has a rich history, former member of Sharon Baptist Church and currently member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. She and her husband, John, volunteered every Thursday for several years with the Jackson Park Ministries.
The Goforth family will greet friends from 11:00 AM until 12 Noon, Wednesday, the 22nd of October 2014 at Ellington Funeral Services. A service to celebrate her life will follow at 12 Noon in the historic chapel of Ellington Funeral Services. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.
Mrs. Goforth is survived by the love of her life after 54 years of marriage, John Vernon Goforth, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; one daughter, Danelle Dossett and her husband, Greg of Hendersonville, NC; two grandsons: Tyler Dossett (20) and Dylan Dossett (16); two sisters: Maxine Cain of Whiteville, NC and Elsie Allred of Laurinburg, NC; and a brother, Byron Bullard of Kernersville, NC and a number of nieces, nephews and many loving friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Charles Bullard.
Memorials may be made in remembrance of Mrs. Elizabeth Goforth to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.
